Warroad blows out Park Rapids, 4-0

The Gardens    Tue, Feb 05, 2013

The Warroad Warriors had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-0 win over the Park Rapids Panthers.

Kobe Roth had two goals and one assist to lead Warroad. Roth scored the first of his two goals at 4:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Warroad. Ben Smieja assisted on the tally. Roth's next tally made the score 4-0 Warroad with 6:38 left in the third period. Smieja picked up the assist.

The Warriors gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. Warroad forced Park Rapids goalie Cody Brumbaugh to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Warroad also got a goal from Jared Bethune as well. Other players who recorded assists for Warroad were Kyle Sylvester, who had one.

The Panthers stifled the Warriors' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Park Rapids did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Panthers average 3.0 goals per game. Park Rapids found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere nine shots against Warroad's defense.

Alex Burke rejected nine shots on goal for the Warriors. Warroad incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cody Brumbaugh made 40 saves for the Panthers on 44 shots. Park Rapids incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
