Kennedy's big game bests Northern Lakes in 5-1 Park Rapids win

The Park Rapids Panthers' Connor Kennedy had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over the Northern Lakes Lightning.

Kennedy scored at 4:12 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Park Rapids and again while 7:09 into the second to make the score 3-0 Park Rapids.

Park Rapids managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Panthers finished below its season average of 3.0 penalty minutes per game. Park Rapids kept Northern Lakes' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitch Stangel made 38 saves on 43 shots.

Park Rapids also got points from Luke Jaeger, who also had one goal and one assist. Noah Macpherson also scored for Park Rapids. In addition, Park Rapids received assists from Ian Johnson, Drew Bade, and Jamie Stewart, who each chipped in one.

The Lightning excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Northern Lakes did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Lightning put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

The Panthers' Cody Brumbaugh stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Northern Lakes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
