Thief River Falls/Goodridge survives penalties, beats Duluth Denfeld, 5-2

The Thief River Falls/Goodridge Prowlers, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Duluth Denfeld Hunters' power play opportunities and emerged with a 5-2 victory.

Thief River Falls/Goodridge was paced by Grady Pederson, who finished with one goal. Pederson scored 12:26 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Thief River Falls/Goodridge. Keaton Huot provided the assist.

Duluth Denfeld was unable to stop the Prowlers from sending pucks towards the net, and Thief River Falls/Goodridge eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Prowlers had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances. Thief River Falls/Goodridge could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

Thief River Falls/Goodridge also got points from Chris Forney, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Evan Ose also scored for Thief River Falls/Goodridge. Other players who recorded assists for Thief River Falls/Goodridge were Adam Pancoast, who had two and Kael Fontaine, Isak Bergland, Wyatt Ortloff, and Zeb Nelson, who contributed one a piece.

The Hunters racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. Duluth Denfeld surpassed its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. The Hunters were held below their usual level of production. Duluth Denfeld averages 4.4 goals per game. With 24 shots on target during the contest, the Hunters exceeded the 0.1 shots they average per game this year.

Duluth Denfeld was helped by Steven Maciver, who racked up one goal. Maciver scored 8:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Duluth Denfeld. Levi Talarico picked up the assist. Duluth Denfeld also got a goal from Reid Lemker as well. In addition, Duluth Denfeld received assists from Alex Thomspon, who had one.

Tanner Holmes made 22 saves for the Prowlers on 24 shots. Zach Thompson rejected 34 shots on goal for the Hunters. Duluth Denfeld registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
