Breck School survives Moorhead comeback, wins 6-4

The Breck School Mustangs survived a determined comeback attempt by the Moorhead Spuds on the way to a 6-4 win.

A goal by Chase Ellingson put Breck School up 6-3 in the third period, but Moorhead pulled to within two on Thomas Carey's tally 12:14 into the third period.

The Mustangs were led by Parker Montgomery, who tallied one goal. Montgomery scored 14:23 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Breck School. Matt Colford provided the assist.

Breck School put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Spuds to score on any of their four power plays. Moorhead was unable to stop the Mustangs from sending pucks towards the net, and Breck School eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Breck School additionally got points from David Husband, who also had one goal and one assist and Jack O''Connor, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Breck School also got a goal from Thomas Lindstrom as well. In addition, Breck School received assists from Lucas McCormick, Derek Wiitala, and Michael Orke, who contributed one a piece.

The 26 shots that the Spuds put on net surpassed Moorhead's average of 2.2 shots per game this season. The Spuds could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Aaron Herdt also scored for Moorhead. Other players who recorded assists for Moorhead were John OConnor, who had two and Will Borgen, Grant Weiss, and Jacob Dittmer, who each chipped in one.

Henry Johnson made 22 saves for the Mustangs on 26 shots. Breck School incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Dittmer recorded 36 saves for Moorhead.
