Forbort leads Duluth East over Moorhead, 5-1Moorhead Sports Center Sat, Jan 05, 2013 Jack Forbort was all over the ice for the Duluth East Greyhounds, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Duluth East's 5-1 win over the Moorhead Spuds. Forbort found the back of the net 7:43 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Duluth East and again while 7:15 into the second to make the score 5-1 Duluth East.The Greyhounds excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Duluth East's offense was clicking better than usual and put 41 shots on goal during the game, better than the 4.4 shots per game it averages. Meirs Moore also scored for Duluth East. More assists for Duluth East came via Andrew Kerr, who had two and Brian Bunten, Alex Trapp, Alex Toscano, and Phil Beaulieu, who each chipped in one. Moorhead put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Greyhounds to score on any of their three power plays. The Spuds could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Moorhead puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. By firing 19 shots on goal, the Spuds exceeded the 1.9 shot they average per game this year. Moorhead was led by Tony Uglem, who scored the team's only goal. Uglem scored 35 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Moorhead. Alex Mehnert picked up the assist. Dylan Parker rejected 18 shots on goal for Duluth East. The Greyhounds incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jacob Dittmer recorded 36 saves for the Spuds. Moorhead incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
