Richfield rolls over Dodge County, 7-2Richfield Sat, Feb 16, 2013 The Richfield Spartans were firing on all cylinders against the Dodge County Wildcats, and when the final buzzer sounded Spartans emerged with a 7-2 win. Drew Saastad had two goals and one assist to lead Richfield. Saastad scored the first of his two goals at 14:16 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Richfield. Jack Stellon provided the assist. Saastad's next tally made the score 3-0 Richfield with 17:36 left in the second period. The Spartans had gotten the advantage when Dodge County's Tanner Dufault was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Kody Ahlstrand picked up the assist. Richfield's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Dodge County power plays. The Spartans kept the Wildcats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joey Biwer made 24 saves on 31 shots. Richfield's goal total was higher than its season average. The Spartans have scored at the pace of 2.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Richfield also got points from Ahlstrand, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Alexander Maki, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Stellon, who also had two goals and three assists to lead the team in points. Bailey Olson also scored for Richfield. More assists for Richfield came via Kevin Ahlstrand, who had three and Andrew Allen, Zach Kruegar, and John Krohn, who each chipped in one. Dodge County was led by Christian Schillo, who tallied one goal and one assist. Schillo scored 11:30 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Richfield. Dodge County also got a goal from Stefan Rechtzigel as well. John Meyer rejected 28 shots on goal for Richfield. The Spartans totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. The Wildcats ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
