St. Thomas Academy uses fast start to beat Henry Sibley, 9-1

The St. Thomas Academy Cadets opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 9-1 over the Henry Sibley Warriors.

Tom Novak had four goals to lead St. Thomas Academy to victory. Novak's first goal came 32 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 6:53 into the first, at 12:55 into the first, and at 15:22 into the third.

The Cadets' goal total was higher than their season average. St. Thomas Academy averages 5.2 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. The Cadets put 44 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.3 they average per game.

St. Thomas Academy additionally got points from Jack Dougherty, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Henry Hart, who also registered three goals and one assist. Zach Weier also scored for St. Thomas Academy. In addition, St. Thomas Academy received assists from Jake Geiser, Seamus Donohue, Alec Broetzman, and Matt Perry, who contributed one a piece and Wyatt Schmidt, Peter Tufto, Austin Sattler, and Christiano Versich, who each chipped in two.

Henry Sibley found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 12 shots against St. Thomas Academy's defense.

The Cadets' David Zevnik stopped 11 shots out of the 12 that he faced. St. Thomas Academy finished the contest with no penalties and went 2-for-0 with the man advantage. Cody Dornbusch rejected 35 shots on goal for the Warriors. Henry Sibley avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of zero power plays.
