Johnson nets hat trick, leads Simley to 6-3 win over St. Paul Johnson

Ben Johnson lifted the Simley Spartans to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the St. Paul Johnson Governors.

Johnson got on the scoresheet 2:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:48 into the second and at 10:48 into the second.

Simley's goal total was higher than its season average. The Spartans average 2.3 goals per game. Simley took advantage of St. Paul Johnson's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. The Spartans could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Others who scored for Simley included Gage Gustafson, who had one and Ben Rauschnot, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Simley were Ben Illestchko, who had one and Nick McCoy and Aaron Leafgren, who contributed two a piece.

The Governors were helped by Mitchell Feske, who had one goal. Feske scored 1:56 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Simley. jesse solheid provided the assist. Matt Ranum also scored for St. Paul Johnson. In addition, St. Paul Johnson received assists from Thomas Murphy, who had one.

Joe Bade rejected 18 shots on goal for Simley. Samuel Moberg recorded 23 saves for St. Paul Johnson. The Governors totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play.
