St. Thomas Academy downs Mahtomedi, 4-1Saint Thomas Sat, Feb 02, 2013 Tom Novak had two points to lead the St. Thomas Academy Cadets to a 4-1 victory over the Mahtomedi Zephyers. St. Thomas Academy managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Cadets ended up below its season average of 6.0 penalty minutes per game. St. Thomas Academy put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.5 it averages per game. St. Thomas Academy also got points from Gunnar Regan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Christiano Versich, who also finished with one goal and one assist. St. Thomas Academy also got a goal from Matt Perry as well. More assists for St. Thomas Academy came via Seamus Donohue, who had two and Alex Johnson and Dan McManus, who contributed one a piece. Mahtomedi's offense operated below it season average. The Zephyers average 3.8 goals per game. Mahtomedi was led by Colin Denis, who scored the team's only goal. Denis scored zero seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mahtomedi. The Cadets' David Zevnik stopped 15 shots out of the 16 that he faced.
