In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Simley Spartans escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Richfield Spartans.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Aaron Leafgren secured the win for Simley with a goal in the third period.

Leafgren was all over the ice for the Spartans, as he racked up two goals in the win.

Simley forced Richfield goalie John Meyer to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Nick McCoy also scored for Simley. Other players who recorded assists for Simley were Brady Lane, Mitch Vogel, Gage Gustafson, and Ben Illestchko, who contributed one a piece.

The Spartans were helped by Kevin Ahlstrand, who finished with one goal. Ahlstrand scored 16:13 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Kody Ahlstrand provided the assist. Richfield also got a goal from Kevin Krohn as well. More assists for Richfield came via Drew Saastad and Jack Stellon, who each chipped in one.

Joe Bade made 18 saves for the Spartans on 20 shots. Simley incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Meyer rejected 32 shots on goal for Richfield. The Spartans incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
