Princeton's comeback falls short, Tartan wins 5-3Tartan Arena Thu, Jan 10, 2013 The Princeton Tigers almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Tartan Titans managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end. Tartan led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Titans' Zach Ledman's scored at 3:27 in the third period to put Tartan up 4-1. The Titans got the win on the strength of a great game by Ledman, who had two goals and one assist. Princeton fell victim to a deadly Tartan power play, which ripped the Tigers for four goals. The Titans forced Princeton goalie Max Mattson to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Tartan additionally got points from Jake Jackson, who also had one goal and two assists. Tartan also got a goal from Jacob Picht as well. In addition, Tartan received assists from Brady OSullivan, who had four. The Tigers were held below their usual level of production. Princeton averages 6.4 goals per game. The Tigers' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Princeton gives up 2.5 goals per game. The Tigers found themselves short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. Princeton was helped by Dan Muench, who racked up one goal. Muench scored on the power play 10:01 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Tartan. The Tigers had taken the advantage when Tartan's Charlie Lupelow got sent off for boarding. Justin Sjoquist provided the assist. A.J. Wesloh also scored for Princeton. Other players who recorded assists for Princeton were Jake Green, who had two and Daniel Voce and Cam Paulson, who contributed one a piece. Gabe Splichal recorded 26 saves for the Titans. Tartan ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Princeton's Mattson stopped 26 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Tigers registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
