LaValle leads Hill-Murray over Mahtomedi, 8-4Aldrich Arena Tue, Jan 08, 2013 Behind a great game by Zach LaValle, who had two goals and two assists, the Hill-Murray Pioneers defeated the Mahtomedi Zephyers, 8-4. LaValle's tallies came at 7:11 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Hill-Murray and 12:28 into the third to make the score 6-4 Hill-Murray.Hill-Murray's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Mahtomedi power plays. The Pioneers bested their season scoring average. Hill-Murray averages 4.0 goals per game. The Pioneers gave up more goals than its normal season average. Hill-Murray averages 1.4 goal allowed per game. The Pioneers' offense was clicking better than usual and put 48 shots on goal during the game, better than the 2.8 shots per game they average. Hill-Murray additionally got points from Coten Greeder, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Tyler Funk, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Mitch Slattery, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Zach Mills also scored for Hill-Murray. Other players who recorded assists for Hill-Murray were Casey Ryan, who had one, Willie Brown, who had two, and Sam Becker, who had three. Mahtomedi was led by Trevor Keeney, who tallied two goals and one assist. Keeney scored the first of his two goals at 6:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mahtomedi. Keeney's next tally made the score 4-3 Mahtomedi with 10:21 left in the second period. Matt Bonine provided the assist. Mahtomedi also got points from Bonine, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mahtomedi also got a goal from Jack Becker as well. More assists for Mahtomedi came via Jake Erickson, Kellen Campbell, Truman Slack, and Mac Rathmanner, who contributed one a piece. John Dugas rejected 17 shots on goal for Hill-Murray. The Pioneers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Thomas Hennen made 40 saves for the Zephyers on 48 shots. Mahtomedi ended with seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major.
