Novak's big game bests Mahtomedi in 3-0 St. Thomas Academy win

Behind a great game by Tom Novak, who had two goals and one assist, the St. Thomas Academy Cadets defeated the Mahtomedi Zephyers, 3-0.

Novak's tallies came at 12:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Thomas Academy and on the power play 10:44 into the third to make the score 3-0 St. Thomas Academy.

St. Thomas Academy also got points from Alec Broetzman, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, St. Thomas Academy received assists from Tony Bretzman and Christiano Versich, who contributed one a piece.

Mahtomedi managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Zephyers finished below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game. Mahtomedi could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Zephyers average 3.8 goals per game.

David Zevnik rejected 17 shots on goal for St. Thomas Academy. The Cadets ended with seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and had no power play opportunities. Mahtomedi's Thomas Hennen stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Zephyers registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
