The Mahtomedi Zephyers were firing on all cylinders against the Simley Spartans, and when the final buzzer sounded Zephyers emerged with a 5-0 win.

Mahtomedi got the win on the strength of a great game by Matt Bonine, who had one goal and three assists. Bonine scored on the power play 11:22 into the third period to make the score 4-0 Mahtomedi. Jake Erickson assisted on the tally.

The Zephyers' defensive play was more effective than usual against Simley. Mahtomedi averages 2.3 goals allowed per game. The Zephyers' offense rang up 32 shots on the Spartans' net.

Mahtomedi also got points from Trevor Keeney, who also had two goals and one assist. Mahtomedi also got a goal from Sam Koenig as well.

Simley's offense operated below it season average. The Spartans put an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. Simley found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere three shots against Mahtomedi's defense.

Thomas Hennen recorded three saves for the Zephyers. Mahtomedi incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mike Sarantos made 27 saves for the Spartans on 32 shots. Simley incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
