Slattery lifts Hill-Murray over White Bear Lake, 6-1

Mitch Slattery was all over the ice for the Hill-Murray Pioneers, as he tallied two goals in Hill-Murray's 6-1 win over the White Bear Lake Bears.

Slattery found the back of the net on the power play 3:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hill-Murray and again while short handed 8:15 into the first to make the score 2-0 Hill-Murray.

The Pioneers forced White Bear Lake goalie Max Green to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Hill-Murray's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Pioneers average 3.5 goals per contest.

Hill-Murray also got points from Zach LaValle, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Hill-Murray included Zach Mills, who had one and Curt LaChappelle, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Hill-Murray were Davis Zarembinski, Coten Greeder, Matt Littler, Ryan Black, and Sam Becker, who each chipped in one.

The Bears' offense operated below they season average. White Bear Lake puts an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. With 17 shots on target during the contest, the Bears exceeded the 2.4 shots they average per game this year.

White Bear Lake was led by Tommy Giller, who scored the team's only goal. Giller scored on the power play 8:42 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Hill-Murray. An elbowing penalty on Black had put the Bears on the power play. John Tauer assisted on the tally.

Hill-Murray's John Dugas stopped 16 shots out of the 17 that he faced. The Pioneers totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Green recorded 33 saves for White Bear Lake. The Bears totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
