Thompson leads Achiever NE Academy over Richfield, 8-1

Behind a great game by B Thompson, who had four goals and one assist, the Achiever NE Academy Aces defeated the Richfield Spartans, 8-1.

Thompson got on the scoresheet 1:33 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:40 into the first, at 9:27 into the first, and at 5:52 into the second.

Richfield was stymied by Achiever NE Academy netminder Jaylen Mitchel, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Mitchel certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.71 entering the contest.

The Aces' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Richfield power plays. The Spartans were unable to stop Achiever NE Academy from sending pucks towards the net, and the Aces eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Achiever NE Academy surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Aces average 5.0 goals per game.

Achiever NE Academy also got points from Cory Sprague, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Achiever NE Academy also got a goal from Cameron Hamlet as well. In addition, Achiever NE Academy received assists from Ryan Finnegan, who had three, Brennan McGuire, B. Gateman, and T. Marsh, who each chipped in one, and Zach Black and Ty Thompson, who contributed two a piece.

Richfield was often in penalty trouble, as it ended with six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time.

The Spartans were led by Trigve Duryea, who scored the team's only goal. Duryea scored 1:33 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kevin Ahlstrand provided the assist.

Achiever NE Academy incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Richfield's Zach Ulmer stopped 27 shots out of the 35 that he faced.
