Eden Prairie survives Wayzata comeback, wins 4-2

The Eden Prairie Eagles survived a determined comeback attempt by the Wayzata Trojans on the way to a 4-2 win.

A goal by Mason Bergh put Eden Prairie up 4-0 in the third period, but Wayzata pulled to within two on Chase Haller's tally 13:56 into the third period.

The Eagles excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Eden Prairie put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 10.0 it averages per game.

Colton Schmidt also scored for Eden Prairie. In addition, Eden Prairie received assists from Luc Snuggerud, who had two and Andrew Knudsen, Jack Keeley, Michael Graham, and Steven Spinner, who contributed one a piece.

The Trojans managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Wayzata ended up below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game. The Trojans' offense was clicking better than usual and put 23 shots on goal during the game, better than the 4.6 shots per game they average.

Other players who recorded assists for Wayzata were Robert Zitzlperger, who had one and Akash Batra, who had two.

Jake Gerdes made 21 saves for the Eagles on 23 shots. Eden Prairie incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and had no power play opportunities. Wayzata's Aaron Dingman stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced.
