Edina hangs on, beats Burnsville 3-2

The Edina Hornets took the lead against the Burnsville Blaze in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-2 victory.

Edina took over the lead for good with a goal by Cullen Munson at 10:10 in the first period. Tim Spicola assisted on the tally.

The Hornets were led by Tyler Nanne, who tallied one goal. Nanne scored 3:51 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Edina. Dylan Malmquist picked up the assist.

The 27 shots that Edina put on net surpassed the Hornets' average of 13.7 shots per game this season.

Edina also got points from Malmquist, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Edina received assists from Matt Nelson, Connor Hurley, Bo Brauer, and Ryan Hatch, who contributed one a piece.

Burnsville was held below its usual level of production. The Blaze put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. By firing 29 shots on goal, Burnsville exceeded the 2.0 shots it averages per game this year.

The Blaze were helped by Ian Taylor, who grabbed one goal. Taylor scored 2:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Edina. Sam Dockry assisted on the tally. Cole Borchardt also scored for Burnsville. Other players who recorded assists for Burnsville were Alec Kersten, Brock Boesser, and Teemu Kivihalme, who each chipped in one.

Andrew Rohkohl made 27 saves for Edina on 29 shots. The Hornets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Burnsville's Nic Anderson stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Blaze incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
