Eden Prairie wins tough contest against Anoka, 4-2Anoka Area Ice Arena Sat, Dec 01, 2012 The Eden Prairie Eagles and the Anoka Tornadoes were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Eden Prairie made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Mason Bergh's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. The Eagles got the win on the strength of a great game by Bergh, who had two goals and one assist. Bergh scored the first of his two goals at 6:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Eden Prairie. Luc Snuggerud provided the assist. Bergh's next tally made the score 3-2 Eden Prairie with 5:47 left in the second period. Steven Spinner assisted on the tally. Eden Prairie put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Anoka to score on any of its five power plays. The Tornadoes were unable to stop the Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and Eden Prairie eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Eden Prairie also got points from Spinner, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Marc Sullivan also scored for Eden Prairie. In addition, Eden Prairie received assists from Hunter Warner, Harry Pajor, and Michael Parrish, who contributed one a piece. Anoka excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Tornadoes were helped by Chase West, who registered one goal. West scored 13:51 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jacob Mack provided the assist. Anoka also got a goal from Cody Pinewski as well. More assists for Anoka came via Travis Mashuga, who had one and Adam Orn, who had two. The Eagles' Jake Gerdes stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Eden Prairie ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Robbie Goor made 40 saves for Anoka on 44 shots. The Tornadoes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
