Chaska wins tough contest against Farmington, 3-2

The Chaska Hawks and the Farmington Tigers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Chaska made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Eric Maki secured the win for the Hawks with a goal in the third period.

Chaska was paced by Maki, who tallied one goal. Maki scored 14:15 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Chaska.

The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Farmington to score on any of its three power plays.

Carter Schmidt also scored for Chaska. In addition, Chaska received assists from Derek Annett and Brooks Wineberg, who contributed one a piece.

The Tigers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Farmington finished below its season average of 8.0 penalty minutes per game. The Tigers' offense rang up 35 shots on Chaska's net.

Farmington was helped by Kevin Olund, who racked up one goal. Olund scored 13:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Farmington. Justin Novak picked up the assist. Farmington also got a goal from Zach Colaw as well.

The Hawks' Blake Jackson stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Chaska incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Austin Krause rejected 16 shots on goal for the Tigers.
