Huge game by Rezansoff boosts Red Wing over Shakopee, 5-1Prairie Island Arena Tue, Jan 22, 2013 Alex Rezansoff had two goals and two assists to lead the Red Wing Wingers to a 5-1 victory over the Shakopee Sabers. Rezansoff found the back of the net on the power play 10:23 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Red Wing and again while 8:22 into the third to make the score 4-1 Red Wing.Red Wing's Preston Blaney was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. Blaney managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 5.23 prior to the game. The Wingers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Shakopee power plays. Red Wing's offense rang up 56 shots on Shakopee's net. The Wingers bested their season scoring average. Red Wing averages 2.3 goals per game. Red Wing additionally got points from Taylor Hanson, who also had two goals and one assist. Red Wing also got a goal from Dylan Goggin as well. More assists for Red Wing came via Tristan Rehder, Kyle LaPorte, and Michael Bigelbach, who each chipped in one and Ryan Rehder and Tyler Rea, who contributed two a piece. The Sabers' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Wingers' power play unit. Shakopee was led by Preston Husom, who scored the team's only goal. Husom scored 5:58 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Red Wing. Red Wing ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. The Sabers' Andrew Lyon stopped 51 shots out of the 56 that he faced. Shakopee ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
