Hurley nets hat trick, leads Edina to 10-6 win over Academy of Holy Angels

Connor Hurley netted a hat trick to lead the Edina Hornets over the Academy of Holy Angels Stars, 10-6.

Hurley got on the scoresheet 4:42 into the second period. He then added goals at 9:23 into the second and at 16:41 into the second.

Edina found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Hornets average 4.0 goals per game. Edina's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to Academy of Holy Angels' power play unit. The Hornets' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Edina gives up 2.0 goals per game. The defensemen of the Hornets were also effective in the Stars' zone, and came away with two goals. By firing 40 shots on goal, Edina exceeded the 12.6 shots it averages per game this year.

Edina additionally got points from Andy Jordahl, who also grabbed two goals and three assists and Dylan Malmquist, who also finished with two goals and three assists. Anthony Walsh also scored for Edina. In addition, Edina received assists from Parker Reno, Cullen Raasch, Dan Hinueber, Bo Brauer, and Andrew Rohkohl, who contributed one a piece.

With 24 shots on target during the contest, Academy of Holy Angels exceeded the 1.5 shot it averages per game this year. The Stars' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Academy of Holy Angels was helped by Mario Bianchi, who racked up two goals and two assists. Bianchi scored the first of his two goals at 14:17 into the second period to make the score 6-5 Edina. Ben Haeg provided the assist. Bianchi's next tally made the score 6-6 with 4:55 left in the second period. Haeg picked up the assist. Academy of Holy Angels also got points from Frankie Mork, who also had one goal and one assist, Haeg, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Marshall Barnes, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Academy of Holy Angels also got a goal from Cooper Sande as well. More assists for Academy of Holy Angels came via Joe Sullivan and Scott McNamara, who each chipped in one.

Rohkohl rejected 18 shots on goal for the Hornets. Edina incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Hornets, Brauer was ejected from the game. The Stars' Nik Schmitz stopped 30 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Academy of Holy Angels incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
