Farmington hangs on, beats Shakopee 2-0Schmitz-Maki Fri, Jan 18, 2013 The Farmington Tigers took the lead against the Shakopee Sabers in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-0 victory. Farmington took over the lead for good with a goal by Jordan Lugowski at 15:01 in the first period. Tanner Grubb provided the assist.The Tigers were led by Lugowski, who finished with one goal. Farmington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Tigers featured an improved defense during the game. Farmington averages 2.6 goals allowed per game. The Tigers' offense rang up 38 shots on Shakopee's net. Farmington also got a goal from Justin Hyytinen as well. In addition, Farmington received assists from Grady Hauswirth, Grant Hauswirth, and Kevin Olund, who contributed one a piece. The Sabers stifled Farmington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Tigers' Austin Krause stopped 16 shots out of the 16 that he faced. Farmington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Sean Surbaugh rejected 36 shots on goal for Shakopee. The Sabers ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
