Chaska downs Robbinsdale Cooper, 5-2

The Chaska Hawks beat the Robbinsdale Cooper Hawks, 5-2.

Chaska's offense rang up 36 shots on Robbinsdale Cooper's net. The Hawks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Chaska was led by Andrew Henke, who tallied one goal and one assist. Henke scored 8:05 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Chaska. Mitch Kirchoff provided the assist. Chaska also got points from Kirchoff, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Brooks Wineberg, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cade Gersich also scored for Chaska. In addition, Chaska received assists from Derek Annett and Jake Halsne, who each chipped in one.

The Hawks managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Robbinsdale Cooper finished below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. The Hawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Robbinsdale Cooper averages 4.5 goals per game.

The Hawks were helped by Trey Rooney, who registered one goal. Rooney scored on the power play 8:50 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Chaska. Robbinsdale Cooper had gained a power play chance when Annett was whistled for slashing. Alex Stager assisted on the tally. Robbinsdale Cooper also got a goal from Nick Larson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Robbinsdale Cooper were Hayden Gautsche, who had one.

Blake Jackson recorded 24 saves for the Hawks. Chaska incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Hawks' Keegan Husom stopped 31 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Robbinsdale Cooper registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
