The Chaska Hawks and the Academy of Holy Angels Stars skate to 5-5 (OT) tie

Chaska rebounded from a four-goal deficit to tie Academy of Holy Angels, 5-5 (OT).

The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stars to score on any of their three power plays. Chaska kept Academy of Holy Angels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Zack Mains made 29 saves on 34 shots.

The Hawks were led by Cade Gersich, who finished with two goals. Gersich scored the first of his two goals at 14:00 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Academy of Holy Angels. Mitch Kirchoff picked up the assist. Gersich's next tally made the score 4-4 with 9:56 left in the third period. Garrett Paulzine assisted on the tally. Chaska also got a goal from Carter Schmidt as well. In addition, Chaska received assists from Derek Annett and Josh Winslow, who contributed one a piece.

The Stars got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. By firing 43 shots on goal, Academy of Holy Angels exceeded the 6.0 shots it averages per game this year.

The Stars were helped by Mario Bianchi, who had one goal and one assist. Bianchi scored 2:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Academy of Holy Angels. Tommy Haeg picked up the assist. Academy of Holy Angels also got points from Haeg, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Academy of Holy Angels included Tucker Haffner, who had one and Frankie Mork, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Academy of Holy Angels were Scott McNamara and Marshall Barnes, who each chipped in one.

Blake Jackson made 38 saves for Chaska on 43 shots. The Hawks totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Academy of Holy Angels incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
