Benilde St. Margarets rolls over Academy of Holy Angels, 11-1

The Academy of Holy Angels Stars had trouble finding ways to stop the Benilde St. Margarets Red Knights, which beat Stars, 11-1.

Nate Labosky had two goals and two assists to lead Benilde St. Margarets. Labosky scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:48 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Benilde St. Margarets. The Red Knights had gained a power play chance when Mario Bianchi was whistled for cross checking. Johnny Austin provided the assist. Labosky's next tally on the power play made the score 6-0 Benilde St. Margarets with 14:03 left in the second period. Chris Hickok assisted on the tally.

Benilde St. Margarets found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Red Knights average 6.0 goals per game. Benilde St. Margarets struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 14 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays. By firing 56 shots on goal, the Red Knights exceeded the 23.7 shots they average per game this year.

Benilde St. Margarets additionally got points from Austin, who also had one goal and one assist, Spencer Naas, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Alec Baer, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Chase Jungels, who also registered two goals and one assist, and T.J. Moore, who also had one goal and one assist. Grant Besse also scored for Benilde St. Margarets. Other players who recorded assists for Benilde St. Margarets were Patrick Graham, who had two and Ben Newhouse, who had three.

Academy of Holy Angels was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 14.0 minutes per game the Stars had been spending in the box. Academy of Holy Angels' offense operated below it season average. The Stars average 5.3 goals per game. The 27 shots that Academy of Holy Angels put on net surpassed the Stars' average of 6.3 shots per game this season.

Paul Lundberg made three saves before being replaced by Andrew Sprang, who took the win and made 23 saves. Benilde St. Margarets registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Zack Mains recorded 45 saves for Academy of Holy Angels. The Stars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Gazich was ejected from the game.
