Farmington wins tough contest against Spring Lake Park, 4-3Schmitz-Maki Thu, Dec 13, 2012 In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Farmington Tigers escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Spring Lake Park Panthers. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Grant Hauswirth's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Hauswirth was all over the ice for Farmington, as he tallied two goals in the win. The Tigers' offense rang up 36 shots on Spring Lake Park's net. Corey Rudrud also scored for Farmington. More assists for Farmington came via Kevin Olund, Erik Holmstrom, Justin Hyytinen, and Dallas Tucker, who contributed one a piece. The Panthers were helped by Jacob Nystrom, who finished with two goals. Nystrom scored the first of his two goals at 2:31 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Noah Bormann provided the assist. Nystrom's next tally made the score 2-2 with 10:15 left in the second period. Spring Lake Park had gotten the advantage when Farmington's Zach Colaw was sent off for high sticking. Nick Heid picked up the assist. Spring Lake Park additionally got points from Pete Seinko, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Spring Lake Park received assists from Austen Long and Gage Rickenbach, who each chipped in one. The Tigers' Gage Overby stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Farmington incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Aaron Furlano made 32 saves for the Panthers on 36 shots. Spring Lake Park incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
