Scott nets hat trick, leads Shakopee to 5-2 win over Waconia

Sam Scott lifted the Shakopee Sabers to a 5-2 victory with a hat trick against the Waconia Wildcats.

Scott got on the scoresheet 9:32 into the second period. He then added goals at 5:32 into the third and at 9:30 into the third.

Shakopee excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Sabers' goal total was higher than their season average. Shakopee has scored at the pace of 2.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Shakopee also got points from Bubba Kubes, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Shakopee also got a goal from Cullen Sievek as well. More assists for Shakopee came via Brett Vogel and Jon Willenssen, who contributed one a piece.

Waconia's offense rang up 53 shots on the Sabers' net.

The Wildcats were helped by Cal Rassman, who finished with one goal. Rassman scored 6:53 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Shakopee. Tanner Riebel assisted on the tally. Waconia additionally got points from Riebel, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Waconia received assists from Justin Reinke, who had one.

Shakopee's Sean Surbaugh stopped 51 shots out of the 53 that he faced. The Sabers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Nathan Kovach made 12 saves for Waconia on 17 shots. The Wildcats incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
