Spinner's hat trick boosts Eden Prairie over Hopkins, 10-0

The Hopkins Royals could not stop the Eden Prairie Eagles' Steven Spinner, who tallied a hat trick in a 10-0 win.

Spinner's first goal came 11:35 into the first period. He then added goals at 28 seconds into the second and at 10:47 into the second.

The game was close after the first frame, but Eden Prairie banged in five goals during the second period to put the victory out of reach for Hopkins.

The Eagles' defense was surprisingly good. Eden Prairie allows 2.9 goals per game. The Eagles bested their season scoring average. Eden Prairie has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. With 38 shots on target during the contest, the Eagles exceeded the 10.7 shots they average per game this year.

Eden Prairie additionally got points from Colton Schmidt, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Mason Bergh, who also had two goals and two assists, and Marc Sullivan, who also racked up one goal and three assists. Others who scored for Eden Prairie included John Sullivan, who had one and Michael Graham, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Eden Prairie were Andrew Knudsen, who had two, Luc Snuggerud, who had four, and Kyle Theilmann, Jack Keeley, Jack Sullivan, Nic Bentz, and Andy Aguilar, who contributed one a piece.

The Royals' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Eden Prairie power plays. Hopkins could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Royals put an average of 2.8 pucks into the net per game. By firing 22 shots on goal, Hopkins exceeded the 1.5 shot it averages per game this year.

Eden Prairie's Jake Kielly stopped 22 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Eagles ended with seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major. Josh Kuehmichel made 28 saves for the Royals on 38 shots. Hopkins incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
