Wayzata wins tough contest against Eden Prairie, 4-2

The Wayzata Trojans and the Eden Prairie Eagles were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Wayzata made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jalen Wahl's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Chase Haller had a great game for the Trojans, netting two goals. Haller scored at 5:06 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 9:21 into the third to make the score 4-2 Wayzata.

Wayzata managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Trojans wound up below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game. Wayzata's offense was clicking better than usual and put 24 shots on goal during the game, better than the 6.6 shots per game it averages.

Wayzata also got a goal from Maxwell Zimmer as well. In addition, Wayzata received assists from Kyle Olson, who had two, Jack Sorensen, who had three, and Alex Stevens and Chase Heising, who each chipped in one.

By firing 25 shots on goal, Eden Prairie exceeded the 10.0 shots it averages per game this year.

The Eagles were helped by Michael Graham, who racked up one goal. Graham scored 1:23 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Eden Prairie. Riley Argetsinger assisted on the tally. Colton Schmidt also scored for Eden Prairie. Other players who recorded assists for Eden Prairie were Brady Schoo, Luc Snuggerud, and Mason Bergh, who contributed one a piece.

Aaron Dingman recorded 23 saves for the Trojans. Wayzata registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Eden Prairie's Jake Kielly stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Eagles incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
