Edina rips Holy Family Catholic, 7-2

The Edina Hornets had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Holy Family Catholic Fire.

Holy Family Catholic fell victim to a deadly Edina power play, which ripped the Fire for four goals.

The Hornets were paced by Connor Hurley, who finished with one goal and one assist. Hurley scored on the power play 1:01 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Edina. Dylan Malmquist picked up the assist.

Holy Family Catholic was unable to stop Edina from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hornets eventually piled up 55 shots on goal. Edina got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Edina also got points from Malmquist, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Edina also had goals scored by Matt Nelson, who had two and Cullen Raasch, Miguel Fidler, and Matt Masterman, who each put in one. More assists for Edina came via Cullen Munson, Dan Hinueber, and Bo Brauer, who each chipped in one and Parker Reno, Ryan Hatch, and Tyler Nanne, who contributed two a piece.

The Fire were helped by Ryan Swanson, who racked up one goal. Swanson scored on the power play 16:56 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Edina. Sam Stenson provided the assist. Jonh Peterson also scored for Holy Family Catholic. In addition, Holy Family Catholic received assists from Garret Riebling and Shane Gersich, who each chipped in one.

Willie Benjamin made 20 saves for the Hornets on 22 shots. Holy Family Catholic's Derek LaCombe stopped 48 shots out of the 55 that he faced. The Fire totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and had no power play opportunities.
