Robbinsdale Cooper holds on for 5-4 win against St.Louis Park

The St.Louis Park Orioles tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Robbinsdale Cooper Hawks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.

Robbinsdale Cooper made the score 4-1 on a goal by Greg Nightingale at 11:45 in the second period, and St.Louis Park got as close as 4-3 when CHARLIE HILLS scored 5:47 into the third period.

The Hawks' offense rang up 38 shots on the Orioles' net. Robbinsdale Cooper capitalized on St.Louis Park's penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage.

The Hawks were helped by Hayden Gautsche, who tallied three goals. Robbinsdale Cooper also got points from Trey Rooney, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Robbinsdale Cooper came via Nathan Linderholm, who had two and Joe Huber, Nick Larson, and Nehwon Norkeh, who contributed one a piece.

The Orioles' offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.8 shots per game they average. St.Louis Park could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The defensemen of the Orioles were also effective in Robbinsdale Cooper's zone, and came away with two goals.

DANNY MURRAY also scored for St.Louis Park. Other players who recorded assists for St.Louis Park were JACOB LUKASAVAGE, who had two and MITCHELL HICKERSON and FRANK JERMUSEK, who each chipped in one.

Kelly Sandhofer made 25 saves for the Hawks on 29 shots. Robbinsdale Cooper incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. RYAN FROOM rejected 33 shots on goal for St.Louis Park. The Orioles registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
