St. Francis beats St.Louis Park 4-2 after comeback scare

The St.Louis Park Orioles tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the St. Francis Saints held on for a 4-2 victory.

St. Francis took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have St.Louis Park storm back on a JAKE BAER goal 11:13 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Saints kept the Orioles' goalie busy throughout the game, and ERIC SPEICHER made 28 saves on 32 shots. St. Francis was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on 12 chances. The Saints could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

St. Francis was led by Kyle Wagner, who had three goals. St. Francis also got a goal from Tanner Schmid as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Francis were Tate Blankenship and Jimmy Mayer, who each chipped in one and Carter Hilgers and Cameron Kaehler, who contributed two a piece.

St.Louis Park racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Orioles had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. By firing 34 shots on goal, St.Louis Park exceeded the 1.0 shot it averages per game this year.

NOAH FORTMEYER also scored for St.Louis Park. More assists for St.Louis Park came via JACOB LUKASAVAGE, NICK OWENS, MILES MULARKY, and CHARLIE HILLS, who each chipped in one.

The Saints' Darion Hanson stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Orioles registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
