St. Francis survives Spring Lake Park comeback, wins 5-4

The St. Francis Saints survived a determined comeback attempt by the Spring Lake Park Panthers on the way to a 5-4 win.

A goal by Tanner Schmid put St. Francis up 5-1 in the second period, but Spring Lake Park pulled to within one on Brandon Richards's tally 9:53 into the third period.

The Saints forced the Panthers goalie Aaron Furlano to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

St. Francis additionally got points from Jimmy Mayer, who also racked up one goal and one assist. St. Francis also had goals scored by Ryan Mohar, who had one and Zach Foesch, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for St. Francis were Kyle Wagner, who had three and Tate Blankenship, Jordan Olson, and Cameron Kaehler, who contributed one a piece.

Spring Lake Park kept St. Francis' goalie busy throughout the game, and Darion Hanson made 30 saves on 34 shots.

Spring Lake Park also got points from Nick Heid, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jacob Nystrom also scored for Spring Lake Park. In addition, Spring Lake Park received assists from Pete Seinko, who had two and Austen Long, Skylar Fisher, and Noah Bormann, who each chipped in one.

The Saints incurred six minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Panthers' Furlano stopped 35 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Spring Lake Park incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
