Spring Lake Park outlasts South St.Paul, 5-3Fogerty Arena - North Rink Tue, Jan 22, 2013 The game between the Spring Lake Park Panthers and the South St.Paul Packers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Spring Lake Park emerged with a 5-3 win. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Austen Long at 10:50 of the third period. Long was all over the ice for the Panthers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Long scored the first of his two goals at 6:37 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Pete Seinko provided the assist. Long's next tally made the score 4-3 Spring Lake Park with 9:10 left in the third period. Deven Sunell picked up the assist. Spring Lake Park outdid its season average for goals scored. The Panthers average 2.8 goals per game. Spring Lake Park also got points from Nick Heid, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Seinko, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Spring Lake Park also got a goal from Jacob Nystrom as well. More assists for Spring Lake Park came via Nick Turnquist, Noah Bormann, Gage Rickenbach, and Marcus Mulvihil, who each chipped in one. South St.Paul kept Spring Lake Park's goalie busy throughout the game, and JT Hirschi made 28 saves on 31 shots. The Packers were helped by Ben Krey, who tallied two goals. Krey scored the first of his two goals at 6:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Cameron Buhl assisted on the tally. Krey's next tally made the score 3-3 with 10:39 left in the third period. Billy Marlow picked up the assist. South St.Paul additionally got points from Alec Miller, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for South St.Paul were Zac Reichstadt, who had one. The Panthers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Spring Lake Park ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mulvihil was ejected from the game. Grant Amelse rejected 20 shots on goal for South St.Paul. The Packers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
