Spring Lake Park uses big games from Long and Sunell to down Owatonna, 5-2Fogerty Arena - North Rink Sat, Jan 19, 2013 Behind one goal and three assists from Austen Long and one goal and one assist from Deven Sunell, the Spring Lake Park Panthers downed the Owatonna Huskies 5-2. Long scored 14:49 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Spring Lake Park. Pete Seinko assisted on the tally. Sunell scored 11:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Spring Lake Park. Seinko provided the assist.Spring Lake Park pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 41 penalty minutes. The Panthers managed to hold Owatonna's power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. Spring Lake Park found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Panthers have scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign. Spring Lake Park also got points from Sunell, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Seinko, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Spring Lake Park also got a goal from Jacob Nystrom as well. Other players who recorded assists for Spring Lake Park were Noah Bormann, who had two and Nick Turnquist and Jake Kroll, who contributed one a piece. The Huskies were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 16 penalty minutes. Owatonna was helped by Mason Bloomquist, who tallied two goals. Bloomquist scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Owatonna. The Huskies had gained a power play chance when Long was whistled for holding. Aaron Kirsch assisted on the tally. Bloomquist's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 9:03 left in the second period. Kirsch picked up the assist. In addition, Owatonna received assists from Soren Colstrup, who had one. Spring Lake Park's JT Hirschi stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Panthers registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Luke Ebeling made 15 saves for Owatonna on 20 shots.
