St. Francis squeaks by Spring Lake Park, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the St. Francis Saints escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Spring Lake Park Panthers.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Ryan Mohar at 8:40 of the third period.

St. Francis got the win with help from a great game by Cameron Kaehler, who had one goal and three assists. Kaehler scored on the power play 16:57 into the second period to make the score 3-3. The Saints had gained a power play chance when Austen Long was whistled for elbowing. Jimmy Mayer assisted on the tally.

St. Francis forced Spring Lake Park goalie Aaron Furlano to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

St. Francis additionally got points from Mohar, who also had one goal and one assist and Zach Foesch, who also registered two goals and one assist. Stephen Vincent also scored for St. Francis. More assists for St. Francis came via Tate Blankenship, Aaron Folk, and Justin Nielsen, who contributed one a piece.

The Panthers were helped by Pete Seinko, who racked up one goal. Seinko scored 6:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Spring Lake Park. Long picked up the assist. Spring Lake Park also got a goal from Nick Heid as well. Other players who recorded assists for Spring Lake Park were Nick Turnquist, Sam Faulkner, and Deven Sunell, who each chipped in one.

Darion Hanson recorded 26 saves for the Saints. St. Francis incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Spring Lake Park's Furlano stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Panthers totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
