Huge game by Riebel boosts Waconia over Robbinsdale Cooper, 12-2New Hope North Sat, Dec 15, 2012 Behind a great game by Tanner Riebel, who had two goals and four assists, the Waconia Wildcats defeated the Robbinsdale Cooper Hawks, 12-2. Riebel scored at 11:25 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Waconia and again while 13:23 into the first to make the score 3-1 Waconia.Waconia stifled Robbinsdale Cooper's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Wildcats kept the Hawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Kelly Sandhofer made 22 saves on 34 shots. Waconia found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Wildcats average 4.0 goals per contest. Waconia also got points from Cal Rassman, who also had one goal and two assists, Alex Tasson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Justin Reinke, who also tallied three goals and three assists to lead the team in points, and Sam Schiffman, who also registered one goal and one assist. Waconia also got a goal from Kyle Kauma as well. In addition, Waconia received assists from Alec Bohman, who had two and Tony Fulkerson and Kevin Kittleson, who contributed one a piece. Robbinsdale Cooper managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Hawks wound up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. Waconia was unable to stop Robbinsdale Cooper from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Robbinsdale Cooper was led by Alex Stager, who finished with one goal. Stager scored 6:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Robbinsdale Cooper. Justin Regnier assisted on the tally. Trey Rooney also scored for Robbinsdale Cooper. Nathan Kovach made 29 saves for the Wildcats on 31 shots. Waconia incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Hawks registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. |
