St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad hangs on, beats Spring Lake Park 4-2

Cal Nicholson scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad Spartans held off the challenges of the Spring Lake Park Panthers in a tough 4-2 win.

Nicholson provided St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad with the game-winning tally when he scored 9:46 into the the first period. Jake Westfield assisted on the tally.

The Spartans were led by Jared Mickelson, who finished with one goal. Mickelson scored short handed 15:19 into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad. Evan Dahlseide picked up the assist.

St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad was held below its usual level of production. The Spartans put an average of 7.0 pucks into the net per game.

St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad also got a goal from Drew Blackmum as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad were Justin Jallen, Mick Sullivan, and Tyler Seplak, who each chipped in one.

Austen Long assisted on the tally. Spring Lake Park additionally got points from Long, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Spring Lake Park came via Pete Seinko, who had one.
