Rogers uses fast start to beat North Branch, 13-2Rogers AC Thu, Dec 06, 2012 The Rogers Royals jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the North Branch Vikings, 13-2. Rogers got the win with help from a great game by Spencer Marchand, who had two goals and three assists. Marchand scored the first of his two goals at 12:17 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Rogers. Marchand's next tally made the score 11-2 Rogers with 16:43 left in the third period. John Wuollet provided the assist. The Royals' offense rang up 45 shots on North Branch's net. Rogers outdid its season average for goals scored. The Royals average 8.0 goals per game. Rogers additionally got points from Parker Veith, who also had one goal and one assist, Jacob Walker, who also finished with one goal and one assist, John Stanley, who also registered one goal and one assist, Nate Weber, who also grabbed three goals and one assist, and Connor Tokheim, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Rogers also had goals scored by Alexander Lorman, who had two and Jake Good and Branden Cecil, who each put in one. More assists for Rogers came via Matt Hellickson, who had three, Blake Timm, who had four, and Kyle Korva and Tyler Antony, who contributed one a piece. The Vikings found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 10 shots against Rogers' defense. North Branch was helped by Ryan Zentner, who had one goal. Zentner scored on the power play 4:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Branch. Jared Axberg assisted on the tally. North Branch also got a goal from Mitchell Patten as well. In addition, North Branch received assists from Brandon Kratzke and Brandon Timm, who each chipped in one. Brock Maxwell made eight saves for the Royals on 10 shots. Rogers ended with no penalties and went 1-for-0 on the power play. Tyler Byrkit recorded 32 saves for the Vikings. North Branch avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored two goals off of zero power plays.
