The Spring Lake Park Panthers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Simley Spartans on the way to a 3-1 win.

A goal by Pete Seinko put Spring Lake Park up 3-0 in the third period, but Simley pulled to within two on Aaron Leafgren's tally 14:53 into the third period.

The Panthers were led by David Taylor, who racked up one goal. Taylor scored 2:15 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Spring Lake Park. Jacob Nystrom picked up the assist.

Spring Lake Park put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Spartans to score on any of their four power plays.

Austen Long also scored for Spring Lake Park. In addition, Spring Lake Park received assists from Nick Heid, Sam Faulkner, Deven Sunell, and Gage Rickenbach, who contributed one a piece.

Simley's offense was handcuffed by the Panthers' defensive play, and the Spartans managed only 14 shots on goal during the game.

Aaron Furlano rejected 13 shots on goal for Spring Lake Park. The Panthers totaled 29 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Spring Lake Park, Nystrom was ejected from the game. Mike Sarantos recorded 25 saves for Simley. The Spartans incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
