Chisago Lakes Area uses fast start to beat Pine City/Rush City, 13-1

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Pine City/Rush City Dragons, which could not recover and fell to the Chisago Lakes Area Wildcats, 13-1.

Zachary Lambrecht was all over the ice for Chisago Lakes Area, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Lambrecht scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Chisago Lakes Area. A tripping penalty on Adam Swanson had put the Wildcats on the power play. Blake Lizotte provided the assist. Lambrecht's next tally on the power play made the score 8-0 Chisago Lakes Area with 8:45 left in the second period. Chisago Lakes Area earned a power play opportunity when Coltin Malchow was put in the box for elbowing. Joseph Kimlinger assisted on the tally.

The Wildcats excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Chisago Lakes Area kept Pine City/Rush City's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tony Pitzen made 35 saves on 48 shots. The Wildcats' goal total was higher than their season average. Chisago Lakes Area averages 6.5 goals per game. The defensemen of the Wildcats were also effective in the Dragons' zone, and came away with two goals.

Chisago Lakes Area additionally got points from Trevor Lushanko, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Jacob Speight, who also had one goal and one assist, Brandon Gillespie, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Justin Bye, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Chisago Lakes Area included Jacob Breyfogle, who had two and Christopher Ritter, Bradee Thompson, William Knaak, and Benjamin Knaak, who each put in one. In addition, Chisago Lakes Area received assists from Colton Reynolds, who had two and Louis Kastenbauer and Landon Lushankpo, who contributed one a piece.

Penalties took their toll on Pine City/Rush City, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Pine City/Rush City also got a goal from Casey Lucht as well.

Bryce Thompson rejected 21 shots on goal for Chisago Lakes Area. The Wildcats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Dragons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
