Champlin Park downs Anoka in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Champlin Park Rebels pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Anoka Tornadoes on a clutch goal by Mason VanTuyl.

VanTuyl had two goals and one assist to lead Champlin Park. VanTuyl scored the first of his two goals at 3:07 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Ryan McNeil assisted on the tally. VanTuyl's next tally made the score 4-3 Champlin Park with 16:15 left in overtime. Bryce Plunkett picked up the assist.

The Rebels' offense rang up 31 shots on Anoka's net. Champlin Park found itself short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing four power plays.

Champlin Park also got a goal from Brock Puchalski as well. Other players who recorded assists for Champlin Park were Danny Eggerichs and Jack Gromek, who each chipped in one.

The Tornadoes were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 14 penalty minutes.

Anoka was led by Alex Orn, who registered two goals. Orn scored the first of his two goals at 8:50 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Anoka. Drew McLaughlin provided the assist. Orn's next tally made the score 3-2 Anoka with 5:00 left in the third period. The Tornadoes earned a power play opportunity when Reese Woods was put in the box for unsportsmanlike conduct. Riley Perry picked up the assist. Cody Pinewski also scored for Anoka. More assists for Anoka came via Andrew Dallum, Michael Lehn, and Travis Mashuga, who contributed one a piece.

Tyler Nelson made 22 saves for the Rebels on 25 shots. Champlin Park registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Robbie Goor rejected 27 shots on goal for Anoka.
