Elk River uses big second period to beat Robbinsdale Armstrong, 7-0

The Robbinsdale Armstrong Falcons allowed the Elk River Elks to net four goals during the second period and fell, 7-0.

Wyatt Edge was all over the ice for Elk River, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Edge scored 7:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elk River.

The Elks was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Elk River allows 2.8 goals per game. The Elks' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Elk River averages 3.6 goals per contest. With 52 shots on target during the contest, the Elks exceeded the 3.5 shots they average per game this year.

Elk River additionally got points from Jacob Jaremko, who also had one goal and two assists and Tim Sandford, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Elk River included Andrew Zerban, who had two and Briggs Leadens and Ben Johnson, who each put in one. In addition, Elk River received assists from Reggie Lutz, who had two and Blake Hillman and Chase Springman, who each chipped in one.

Robbinsdale Armstrong struggled to put together a cohesive attack and finished with a mere 14 shots over the course of the game. However, the Falcons finished with more shots in the game than the 1.1 per game they average. Robbinsdale Armstrong stifled Elk River's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Falcons could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Robbinsdale Armstrong averages 2.6 goals per game.

MacLean Berglove rejected 14 shots on goal for the Elks. Elk River incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Grant Mathiason made 45 saves for the Falcons on 52 shots. Robbinsdale Armstrong incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
