Early goals doom Osseo, falls to Andover, 8-2

The Andover Huskies jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Osseo Orioles, 8-2.

Tyler Tomberlin was all over the ice for Andover, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Tomberlin scored 1:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Andover. Calvin Rak provided the assist.

The Huskies found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Andover has scored at the pace of 3.0 goals per game during the current campaign. The Huskies' offense was clicking better than usual and put 50 shots on goal during the game, better than the 2.0 shots per game they average.

Andover also got points from Tyler Vold, who also registered one goal and three assists, Jared McComber, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Rak, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Andover included Brit Brothen, who had one and Christian Mohs, who had three. More assists for Andover came via Justin Kliingl, Nick Maney, Tanner Tullbane, Bjorn Kjelstad, Byron Gunderson, Zach Sitarz, and Reece Tulbane, who each chipped in one.

Osseo avoided man-down situations well, finishing with one major for five minutes in penalty time. The Orioles ended up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game.

Chris Hamling rejected 26 shots on goal for Andover. The Huskies incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Alex Otto recorded 42 saves for Osseo. The Orioles registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
