Andover hangs on, beats Anoka 2-0

Zach Sitarz scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Andover Huskies held off the challenges of the Anoka Tornadoes in a tough 2-0 win.

Andover took over the lead for good with a goal by Sitarz at 12:56 in the first period. Jared McComber assisted on the tally.

The Huskies were led by Sitarz, who finished with one goal.

Andover put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Anoka to score on any of its four power plays. The Huskies featured an improved defense during the game. Andover gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. The 33 shots that the Huskies put on net surpassed Andover's average of 1.9 shot per game this season. The Huskies' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Andover finished with 16 penalty minutes.

J.P. Gibbs also scored for Andover. Other players who recorded assists for Andover were Justin Kliingl, Tanner Tullbane, and Jake Klockers, who each chipped in one.

Chase Perry rejected 17 shots on goal for the Huskies. Andover registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Robbie Goor recorded 31 saves for the Tornadoes. Anoka incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
