Blaine pulls away in second, rolls over Centennial, 8-3

The Blaine Bengals scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the Centennial Cougars and clinch an 8-3 win.

Jesse Norling had one goal and two assists to lead Blaine. Norling scored 9:44 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Blaine. Joey Lau provided the assist.

The Bengals outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Blaine averages 4.8 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Bengals were also effective in Centennial's zone, and came away with two goals. Blaine's offense was clicking better than usual and put 32 shots on goal during the game, better than the 1.7 shot per game it averages. The Bengals were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 30 penalty minutes.

Blaine additionally got points from Brandon Noterman, who also registered one goal and one assist, Lau, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Tyler Cline, who also finished with three goals and one assist to lead the team in points, and Dallas Gerads, who also had one goal and one assist. Zack Wylie also scored for Blaine. Other players who recorded assists for Blaine were Alex Copa and Tyler Maki, who contributed one a piece.

The Cougars put 19 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.0 they average per game. Centennial's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Cougars average 2.5 goals allowed per game. Centennial's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Cougars finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Centennial was led by Hans Gorowsky, who racked up two goals and one assist. Gorowsky scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Cougars earned a power play opportunity when Lau was put in the box for elbowing. Ryner Gorowsky assisted on the tally. Gorowsky's next tally on the power play made the score 8-3 Blaine with 6:29 left in the third period. Colin Hughes provided the assist. Centennial also got a goal from Andrew Bertrand as well.

Bailey Ketola recorded 16 saves for Blaine. The Bengals registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Patrick Munson made 24 saves for Centennial on 32 shots. The Cougars registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
