Maney leads Andover over Coon Rapids, 6-0

Behind a great game by Nick Maney, who had two goals and one assist, the Andover Huskies defeated the Coon Rapids Cardinals, 6-0.

Maney scored on the power play at 5:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Andover and again while 13:50 into the first to make the score 3-0 Andover.

Coon Rapids' eight penalties came back to haunt it, as the Cardinals let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Andover featured an improved defense during the game. The Huskies average 2.7 goals allowed per game. Andover surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Huskies average 2.5 goals per contest. By firing 57 shots on goal, Andover exceeded the 2.9 shots it averages per game this year.

Andover also got points from Derek Olsen, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Christian Mohs, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. J.P. Gibbs also scored for Andover. More assists for Andover came via Brady Barthold, who had two and Tyler Vold, Tanner Tullbane, and Zach Sitarz, who contributed one a piece.

Coon Rapids did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting three shots on net to force three saves. The Cardinals struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Chris Hamling recorded three saves for the Huskies. Andover incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Zachary St. John made 51 saves for Coon Rapids on 57 shots. The Cardinals registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
