Anoka beats Coon Rapids 4-3 after comeback scare

The Anoka Tornadoes survived a determined comeback attempt by the Coon Rapids Cardinals on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Andrew Dallum put Anoka up 4-2 in the third period, but Coon Rapids pulled to within one on Samuel Naegele's tally 16:58 into the third period.

Jacob Mack was all over the ice for the Tornadoes, as he tallied two goals in the win. Mack scored at 8:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Anoka and again while short handed 3:38 into the third to make the score 3-1 Anoka.

Anoka was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The Tornadoes had been averaging 12.0 minutes in penalties per game. Anoka kept the Cardinals' goalie busy throughout the game, and Zachary St. John made 32 saves on 36 shots. The Tornadoes outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Anoka averages 1.9 goal per contest.

Anoka additionally got points from Alex Orn, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Anoka received assists from Drew McLaughlin, Chase West, Connor Nikolaus, and Gavin Putt, who each chipped in one.

Coon Rapids could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Cardinals were helped by Jake Bruner, who grabbed one goal. Bruner scored on the power play 1:25 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Seth Johnson provided the assist. Coon Rapids also got a goal from Stephen Braschayko as well. Other players who recorded assists for Coon Rapids were Wilfred Raeker-Rebek, Cody Ancheta, and Robbie Randall, who contributed one a piece.

The Tornadoes' Robbie Goor stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Anoka registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Coon Rapids registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
