Early goals doom Coon Rapids, falls to Blaine, 8-0Fogerty Arena - South Rink Sat, Jan 12, 2013 The Coon Rapids Cardinals fell behind early, and the Blaine Bengals kept piling on the points on the way to an 8-0 victory. Brandon Noterman had two goals and one assist to lead Blaine. Noterman scored the first of his two goals at 4:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blaine. Luke Notermann provided the assist. Noterman's next tally made the score 4-0 Blaine with 9:09 left in the first period. Tyler Cline assisted on the tally. The Bengals' defensive play was more effective than usual against Coon Rapids. Blaine averages 2.6 goals allowed per game. The Bengals found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Blaine has scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of the Bengals were also effective in the Cardinals' zone, and came away with three goals. Blaine put 40 shots on net during the contest, more than the 2.3 it averages per game. Blaine additionally got points from Notermann, who also registered one goal and two assists and Cline, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Blaine also had goals scored by Easton Brodzinski, who had one and Dallas Gerads, who had three. Other players who recorded assists for Blaine were Tanner Tufte, Frank Vescio, and Jordan Turnquist, who each chipped in one and Alex Copa and Joey Lau, who contributed two a piece. The Bengals' defense shut down Coon Rapids' forwards for much of the game, and the Cardinals got off only 14 shots during the contest. Blaine's James Simmer stopped 14 shots out of the 14 that he faced. The Bengals incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Justin Ball made 32 saves for Coon Rapids on 40 shots. The Cardinals incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
